4th Roundtable Meeting on Capital Market Development was held at SECM Office in Yangon (8-2-2020)
The 4th Roundtable Meeting on Capital Market Development was held at Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Myanmar in Yangon at 09:00 am on 8th February 2020.
Deputy Minister for Planning, Finance and Industry, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Myanmar, H.E. U Manung Maung Win and Commissioners, Department Heads , Officials and Executives from Japanese Embassy and JICA, Central Bank of Myanmar, Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, Internal Revenue Department, Myanmar Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), Myanmar Private Equity and Venture Capital Association(MPE&VCA), Yangon Stock Exchange, Securities Companies and Listed Companies attend the meeting.
The Meeting was chaired by the Chairman of SECM and the Chairman in his speech said this quarterly meeting was held for the development of stock market and for solving the challenges and difficulties what we faced in the market and in previous the 3rd Roundtable Meeting, we discussed about taking into consideration listed companies’ qualification in terms of transparency in the tender process of government departments’ and its’ procurement policy, possible reduction of corporate income tax on the listed companies and addendum to Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan(MSDP) for capital market development. In this meeting of the 4th Roundtable, we will discuss regarding allowing foreigner participation in daily share trading of listed companies in YSX, mechanism of taxation on securities transaction, current status of Prelisting Board for public companies of more than one hundred shareholders and Key Performance Indicators(KPIs) of securities companies. He also said that there can be directly implemented on some discussion points and there will also be some points need to discuss further so as to set short and long terms plan on these matters.
After that the meeting is being held in line with the agenda and the attendees actively discussed at the meeting.
In March 2016, Yangon Stock Exchange (YSX) started the first trading for listed shares. At present, there are five listed companies traded their shares through six securities companies and scrutinizing in accordance with the listing criteria for upcoming companies which are planned to join the market.
