On February 24, 2015, the office of the Securities and Exchange Commission was opened on Sule Pagoda Road in Yangon, and efforts were made to establish the Yangon Stock Exchange, the first stock exchange in Myanmar. On December 9, 2015, the Yangon Stock Exchange was successfully launched.

On March 25, 2016, the first listed company, First Myanmar Investment Public Co.,Ltd were listed. On May 20, 2016, the shares of the second listed company, Myanmar Thilawa SEZ Holding Public Co.,Ltd., were introduced. On August 26, 2016, shares of the third listed company, Myanmar Citizen Bank Public Co.,Ltd were listed. The shares of the fourth listed company, First Private Bank Limited, were listed on January 20, 2017. On January 26, 2018, the shares of the fifth listed company, TMH Telecom Public Co.,Ltd were introduced. On May 28, 2020, the shares of the sixth listed company, Ever Flow River Group Public Company Limited, were listed. The shares of the seventh listed company, AMSTA Holding Public Co.,Ltd , were listed on June 3, 2021. The shares of the eighth listed company, Myanmar Agro Exchanges Public Co., Ltd were introduced on July 3, 2023. The listed shares are now allowed to start trading in the market.

Currently, there is an opportunity for related companies to register. The Yangon Stock Exchange has established a second market called the Pre-Listing Board (PLB). Myanmar Agricultural & General Development Public Company Limited was registered on Pre Listing Board (PLB) of Yangon Stock Exchange on 14th August 2024 and its share were allowed to start trading in the market.

By registering and trading on the Pre-Listing Board, public companies can promote their disclosure and corporate governance practice. This preparation helps them get ready for the Main Board. Additionally, investors will have more opportunities for investment.
