The first-ever Yangon Stock Exchange (YSX) in Myanmar was successfully opened
The first-ever Yangon Stock Exchange (YSX) in Myanmar was successfully opened by Vice President of The Republic of the Union of Myanmar Tharay Sithu U Nyan Htun on 9th December 2015 at N0.24-26, Sule Pagoda Road, Kyauktada Township.
At the Grand Opening Ceremony of YSX, the Union Minister of Ministry of Finance U Win Shein gave an opening address, followed by a congratulatory speech by Mr. Nobuchika Mori, Commissioner, Financial Services Agency of Japan, on behalf of the Japanese Government,and words of welcome by Mr. Takashi Hibino, President and Chief Executive Officer, Daiwa Securities Group Inc., and Mr. Koichiro Miyahara, Director, Japan Exchange Group / President & Chief Executive Officer, Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Vice President of The Republic of the Union of Myanmar Tharay Sithu U Nyan Htun honored this special occasion by tolling the Aung Zay Ya Tu bell to mark the opening of YSX. And then, the Deputy Finance Minister and Chairman of Securities and Exchange
Commission of Myanmar (SECM) Dr. Maung Maung Thein announced the candidacy of listed public companies alphabetically. These companies are First Myanmar Investment Co. Ltd, First Private Bank Ltd, Great Hor Kham Public Co. Ltd, Myanmar Agribusiness Public Corporation Ltd, Myanmar Citizens Bank Ltd and Myanmar Thilawa SEZ Holding Co. Ltd.There was also the showing of a short video clip and demonstration of stock trading.The Vice President of The Republic of the Union of Myanmar Tharay Sithu U Nyan Htun, The Union Finance Minister U Win Shein, The Chief Minister of Yangon Region Government U Myint Swe, The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs U Thant Kyaw, Deputy Finance Minister and Chairman of SECM Dr. Maung Maung Thein, The Vice Chairman of the Central Bank of Myanmar U Sett Aung, The Commissioner of Financial Services Agency of Japan, The Ambassador of the Embassy of Japan to The Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Chairmen / Presidents / Directors of Japan Exchange Group, Tokyo Stock Exchange, Daiwa Securities Group Inc., a holding company of Daiwa Securities and other distinguished guests attended this grand opening ceremony of YSX.
